Wasa Lake Triathlon

The Wasa Lake Triathlon is an annual multi-sport event held at Wasa Lake Provincial Park, just outside Cranbrook, British Columbia. Set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, the event has been welcoming athletes of all abilities for more than three decades. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity, safety, and community spirit, it offers both first-time participants and experienced athletes a rewarding and memorable race experience.

Events and Distances

The Wasa Lake Triathlon features a variety of race options designed to accommodate different ages, experience levels, and goals. Events typically include:

Trikids Triathlon for youth
Super Sprint and Sprint Triathlon distances
Standard (Olympic-distance) Triathlon
Standard Team Relay
Aquabike (swim and bike)
Additional challenge-based events offered in select years

Each event combines swimming, cycling, and running, with Aquabike focusing on the swim and bike segments only. Participants can choose the distance and format that best matches their comfort level and ambitions.

Course and Setting

All races take place within and around Wasa Lake Provincial Park. The swim portion is held in the calm waters of Wasa Lake, followed by cycling routes that travel through the surrounding countryside, and a run course that highlights the park’s natural setting.

The courses are designed to be challenging yet accessible, offering a balance of physical effort and scenic reward. Traffic control, aid stations, and medical support are integral parts of the event setup.
