Kootenay Raft Co. has been running whitewater on the St. Mary’s River since 1998, earning its place as a go-to summer adventure for visitors to Cranbrook, Kimberley and Fort Steele. The operation is grounded in experience, with certified guides who meet provincial and national safety standards and know these rivers well.
Safety leads every trip. Guides are trained in river rescue and first aid, and trips are planned around current water levels, weather, and group comfort. That attention shows up in the experience, giving families, first-timers, and seasoned paddlers confidence from the moment they launch.
Rafting season runs from May through September, when snowmelt and summer flows bring the river to life. Trips are designed as half-day adventures that get people off their screens and into the current, moving through classic Kootenay scenery with guides who care as much about people as they do about the river.
