Four-season trails at the base of Cranbrook Mountain, ten minutes from town.
South Star is where Cranbrook goes to get outside. This non-motorized, multi-use trail system sits southeast of the city and runs year-round for walkers, runners, riders, and snowshoers who like their time outdoors straightforward and close to home.
In winter, South Star turns into a local favourite for nordic. Trails are groomed and track set for classic, with a skate lane down the middle, and you’ll need a day pass or season pass to use the maintained trails. This is also a popular location for snowshoing, fat biking and winter walking. Fat bike trails are also groomed.
Getting there is simple: head south on Gold Creek Road, turn down 38th Avenue South, and drive to the end to find the gate, map, and parking.
