A NEIGHBOURHOOD PARK BUILT FOR PLAY AND EVERYDAY TIME OUTSIDE
Gyro Park is a long-standing community park in south Cranbrook, located at the corner of 7th Avenue and 7th Street South. At just under four acres, it’s a well-used green space where play, movement, and casual gatherings have been part of daily life for generations.
The park has been part of the neighbourhood since 1956 and continues to serve as a place to get active or slow things down for a while.
THE PARK
Originally developed with support from the local Gyro Service Club, Gyro Park reflects a strong sense of community involvement. Large open lawns, mature trees, and well-spaced amenities make it easy to use the park in different ways throughout the day.
Outdoor lighting extends park use beyond daylight hours, supporting evening activity and events.
PLAY AND ACTIVITY
Gyro Park includes a wide range of children’s play equipment, with multiple swings, slides, seesaws, and climbing structures designed for younger park users. Nearby, tennis and pickleball courts offer space for casual games and regular play.
Open grassy areas provide room for informal activities like tossing a frisbee, stretching out, or setting up a simple game without needing formal equipment.
GATHERING SPACES
A covered picnic shelter and shaded seating areas make Gyro Park a comfortable place to pause, eat, or spend time together. Washrooms are available on-site, supporting longer visits and group use.
The layout allows families, individuals, and small groups to share the space easily without crowding.
