Western Financial Place is Cranbrook’s multi-purpose recreation and events facility, bringing together sport, fitness, and large-scale gatherings under one roof. It’s a place locals pass through often, whether for a game night, a swim, a concert, or a steady walk around the concourse.
Located on 2nd Street North, the facility is easy to reach and designed to support everything from daily recreation to sold-out events.
THE FACILITY
Western Financial Place is home to an NHL-sized arena, a full aquatics centre, indoor sports courts, and shared public spaces. The arena hosts hockey, touring shows, and community events, with a long history of welcoming athletes, performers, and audiences of all kinds.
The building is designed to flex between everyday use and major events, with services and amenities that support both.
AQUATIC CENTRE
The Cranbrook Aquatic Centre is a multi-use aquatic space built for a range of activity levels. An eight-lane pool supports lap swimming and fitness, while a leisure pool offers a slower pace with spray features, shallow water areas, and a beach-style entry that allows for gradual access.
Additional features include a hot tub, steam room, dry sauna, diving board, and water slide. Pool temperatures are set with comfort in mind, accommodating both active swimming and lower-intensity movement. Accessibility features include stairs and a chair lift in the lane pool, along with a viewing area where street clothes are permitted.
INDOOR SPORTS AND RECREATION
Indoor courts are adaptable for squash, racquetball, and wallyball, with options for scheduled bookings and drop-in play. Public skating and other recreation programs are offered throughout the year, with schedules varying by season and event bookings.
These spaces support both structured programming and casual use, making the facility part of many local routines.
WALKING AND EVERYDAY USE
The concourse is open for indoor walking during set hours, offering a flat, weather-protected route used by locals year-round. A one-time security card is required for access and is available through Leisure Services. Running is not permitted.
Hours may change on hockey game days or during special events, and checking ahead is recommended.
EVENTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
As a venue, Western Financial Place hosts a wide range of events, including hockey games, tournaments, concerts, and touring productions. The calendar reflects a mix of local programming and national acts, making it a key gathering place for the region.
Concessions and a full-service restaurant are typically available during major events, with guest services supporting event-day needs.
